Ginger Beer

This beer is a beer for ginger lovers!  If you like old fashion ginger soda, then you’ll love this beer.  When I had convinced my parents to come for Thanksgiving this year, I wanted to make sure I had a special beer for my mom.  As I was looking through brew talk recipes I found this ginger one and it had mixed reviews.  This seems to be the general view on ginger, you either like it or you don’t.  Mom loves ginger.

The recipe called for a ridiculous amount of fresh chopped ginger.  I ended up going with a bit less but still put 8oz into a 1 gallon batch! Upon tasting the final product, I would cut this in half and end up with an even better beer.  As for this batch, it has great aromatics (Hallertauer hops, lemon, ginger), a nice light bubbly middle and some heat at the end.  A great beer to have as a digestif!
