2011 Year in Review

Written by Justin on January 11, 2012

It’s been two years now since the brewing bug bit us and it hasn’t let go. This year we doubled down and got even more serious about our brewing, coming up with new recipes, new hardware, and some great parties. We’ve made lots of new friends, rekindled old friendships, and celebrated with our friends and family. We had six tap parties and lots of folks come to taste through our creations. We love everything about it and can’t wait to see what this new year holds but before we get going here’s the breakdown on the last year.

By the numbers:

Batches: 32 beers, 3 ciders
Volume: 200 gallons*
Fermentables: 502 lbs
Hops: 121 oz
Yeast: 14 strains
Competitions: Silver – Citra Pale Ale & Nightfall Wheat – Nevada County Homebrew Competition
Most often brewed: Dave’s Cocobrown, Sonoma Pale, Touch of Summer

Did you have a favorite beer from the last year? Any suggestions for this next year? It was an awesome year for our brewing but it’s time to say goodbye to 2011 and celebrate the beginning of another amazing year. We look forward to sharing a pint with you soon!

Thankfully, it’s legal to brew here in my state of Kentucky as well! — http://ow.ly/8qV2K

I enjoy reading about your adventures and wish I had the space & some of your equipment to brew more regularly. At the moment, I have a watermelon wine in one fermenter and a variation on Avery Brewing Company’s Old Jubilation Ale, detailed in my blog.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to seeing what else you come up with, and I’m thinking seriously about trying Dave’s Cocobrown!

Thanks! I enjoy writing the blog. Watermelon wine sounds interesting. We haven’t tried wines, though we have done a wine grape/beer hybrid. We just brewed the Cocobrown again a couple days ago. Smells great, looks great, can’t wait to get it into a keg. Look forward to hearing about what the big project you’ve got under wraps is.

I don’t know if you guys have seen this one yet or not, but I just saw it for the first time & about fell out of my chair laughing! But then again, I’ve been accused of being 12 years old mentally as well….
